The Artist Facilitators:
Samira Arhin–Acquaah is a young Emcee, writer and performer. Samira performs internationally with her Hip Hop Band Ajah UK; she is also developing A Night on the Tiles a Contact Theatre production with the Spoken Word collective Pen-ultimate, of which she is a founding member.
Shabina Aslam is an experienced Theatre and Radio Drama Director, Creative Producer and Dramaturg. Shabina has worked as a director for Contact Theatre, Qatar Foundation as well as the BBC. Productions include I Hear Voices for Contact Theatre, Something Dark by Lemn Sissay for BBC Radio 3 which won the CRE Race in the Media Award in 2005.
Eleanor Dare will lead on developing the Sounds Like Graffiti Books and Sound Boxes for the Launch Event; she is an accomplished visual artist who is about to complete her PhD in Computational Art whilst lecturing at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London.
Mel Harris is an experienced Radio Drama Director with her own production Company called Crosslab she regularly broadcasts Radio plays on BBC networks as well as international festivals. Mel is the dramaturg on this project, ensuring all the audio plays sound fantastic.
Jeremy Mortimer is an Executive Producer at BBC Radio Drama and is our main contact with the Corporation, he will also read the scripts and ensure they sound well.
Matti Pohjonen is a digital artist, most recently employed as a Teaching Fellow in Digital Culture at the Media and Cultural Studies at the University of London: School of Oriental and African Studies. Matti is an experimental photographer, documentary filmmaker as well as a web designer. He is currently developing a mobile phone project in Ethiopia and a documentary film in Nagaland, India.
Supreet Sethi likes doing artistic intervention through software. From early on, he worked on prestigious new media projects like Location N and opus.net. He is immensely interested in mobile computing and its uses in art. He is currently enrolled for Masters in Critical Media and Cultural Studies at SOAS, University of London, UK.
Martin Stannage is also a founding member of Pen-ultimate and regularly performs his lyrics nationally. Martin is an experienced playwright and currently working on OLGA a play about violence against the elderly which will tour nationally in the autumn.
Dan Steele is an experienced Sound Designer and is currently on tour with Gecko in South East Asia, on his return he will create a unique soundscape for the Sound plays we are creating.
Eloise Whitmore is a freelance sound designer specialising in audio drama and documentary, her most recent programmes were RIP Boy (Red Productions) broadcast 7th May 2010 on Radio 4 and Theo’s World Cup Dream (All Out Productions) broadcast 3rd May 2010 on 5Live. Eloise won a Sony for the Radio 4 drama ‘The Color Purple’ in 2009. But first and foremost she’s a woman with a passion for sound.
